E The Profit – Duffy Season EP + Q&A

E The Profit has been an artist who we’ve been pushing and promoting for a while now, and his first ever EP is finally here entitled Duffy Season.
Reigning out of Elsmere, Kentucky, E The Profit has been making a name for himself in the Tri-State area. With Soundcloud releases earlier in the year like “Big Talking”, “Untitled 1”, and “Intermission”, he has really been thriving on strong bars full of confidence, high energy, and profound lyricism. E The Profit also collaborated with our very own John Buchanan for the music video release of his hit single “DANK” and has gathered close to 9K views on our Youtube page.
E The Profit has only been taking music seriously for little under a year now, and it’s amazing to see how much talent he really has. When you listen to any of his songs, you immediately feel the high, emphatic energy that he gives off. That’s exactly what Duffy Season is, an EP showcasing the raw talent that E has into 5 songs. My immediate favorites from the tape are “Hot off the Press”, “What???”, and “Duffy Season”. On the EP, we get a feature from E the Profit’s frequent collaborator JDINGERS and they absolutely kill the standout hit of the tape “Duffy Season”. The featured production from the tape comes from Northern Kentucky’s very own ChachBeLurkin who is without a doubt one of the best producers in this area with already making tracks with Pangeaux and E The Profit.
I got a change to chop it up with the man himself for a quick Q&A interview.
…
Tanner: Before we get into the Q&A, can you give a brief description of yourself to the readers who may not be familiar with you?
E: E the Profit. I try to make my music pure energy, either I’m trying to make some hype shit or I’m trying to make some shit that emphasizes confidence. I’m just out here trying to change people’s moods. I make music that’s meant to be seen and heard. I want to change my listeners environment.
–
Tanner: This area needs more of that energy around here and I can feel it when I listen to your music. Where do you think that confidence and hyped energy is derived from internally?
E: To be honest, it comes from my memories of my city. In Elsmere, you’re only bored if you’re boring. My boys and I always find a way to make life exciting, and I think being raised where I was give me that constant ability to make any situation hype.
–
Tanner: Who/what inspired you to start making music? And how long have you been recording yourself?
E: I don’t know what inspired me to be honest, I’ve always been an artsy kid. Like if it’s art in any form I’ve always tried to make it. Music really was my first love though. When I was a kid I remember playing beats off my toy piano and recording myself rapping with a tape recorder. I took drum lessons and tried to teach myself piano too. But as I got older, sports got more involved in my life and art took a backseat. But last summer, my dude JD (JDINGERS) talked me into going to the studio with him and taking music a little more seriously and it’s one of the greatest decisions I ever made.
–
Tanner: It really was a great decision. You’ve been gaining a pretty decent local following with the releases of songs, videos, and snippets. It’s starting to become contagious. Can you speak on the process of the creation of your new EP Duffy Season?
E: To be honest, I’ve been planning to drop a tape for like 4 months but football clashed with my schedule and my first concept for my tape didn’t vibe with me as much as it did when I first thought of it. But I had all these songs written from football season, but I had no time to record them. The songs really have no correlation with each other, they just some shit I thought were pretty nice. The name for the EP come from a funny story from one of my home boys though.
–
Tanner: That’s still dope though. It’s a memory and you’re living in the moment. Sometimes those are the bets ideas by just doing what you feel! So I know you’ve been working with JDINGERS and ChachBeLurkin. What’s it like making music with JD and developing connections with other artists/producers in this area?
E: It’s honestly live as hell. JD is a day one so whenever we link it seems like we’re not even working. If we recorded half of the freestyles we have on a weekly basis we’d have like 30 hits just waiting to be released. That dude Chach is legit though! I’ve only met dude like twice, but he hit me up one day and said he was putting a beat pack together for me and he thought he would compliment my sound and dude was 100% right. I mess with him heavy. It’s just cool seeing the music side of the greater Cincinnati area. I was literally with Pangeaux on Sunday recording some last minute shit for the EP and I’ve learned a lot from him just by being around him. Everyone is so accepting and willing to cheer each other on. It’s live to get that kind of support from complete strangers. It makes you appreciate the struggle even more than before.
–
Tanner: That’s all facts bro… You got your first show coming up with us at The Mockbee. What can everyone expect from the first performance from E The Profit?
E: It’s going to be crazy, we turning all the way up because I want y’all to know how much I appreciate y’all coming out! Expect to get wet because we flinging water bottles too!
–
Tanner: I’m excited for everything that’s coming your way heading into 2019. What can everyone expect from you heading into the new year and beyond?
E: Growth. Only way I can go is up. I’m going to keep getting better and keep working, I’m not stopping until my whole team is eating and that’s on my life.
–
Tanner: You’re career has literally only just begun bro. Last question, where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
E: Living the life I’ve always imagined. On a tour bus traveling the world surrounded by my guys, doing what I love!
